Christmas in Malta with Gateway School of English open during the holidays
At Gateway School of English GSE we love Christmas. We love this magical time of the year, the end of a successful year of teaching English to students from all over the world. We celebrate it in the best way we can together with our large family of international students, of all ages from the young children to the mature adults who choose Malta as their English language travel destination for the festive season. GSE doesn’t close for the Christmas holidays, unlike other schools on the island, and we are open and welcoming students during the holidays. So is our accommodation located right next to the school on bed and breakfast basis.
At Gateway we start celebrating Christmas early on at the beginning of December and we always shoot our annual Christmas video which has now become a tradition at our English language school in Malta. We start by asking our teachers to choose a traditional Christmas song and then students will practise it in class in the run up to the day when the actual shooting of Santa visiting Gateway takes place which is usually around end of November and beginning of December.
This year was no exception and we welcomed Santa to our classrooms this week as students sang along the famous Christmas hit called ‘Feliz Navidad’ which they had practised in class the days before. Everyone, staff and students joined in and contributed to the festive atmosphere we created for Santa, making him feel welcome to our English language school. Students from all over the world cheered and danced to the tune of Feliz Navidad while our young learners chased Santa all along.
Santa is often chosen from among our academic staff, often encouraged by students. This year it was Alain’s turn, an English teacher loved by the students and encouraged to dress up as Santa for the Christmas video.
